In many ways, the iPhone has been disastrous for driving. A lot of drivers try to multitask while they are behind the wheel. This often leads to, at best, fender benders, and at worst, head on collisions and roll overs. But the iPhone isn’t a driving death trap in and of itself. It is simply a tool, and it is up to the owner whether that tool will be used for good or bad.
When it comes to driving, there are innumerable ways that the iPhone can keep you safe. Apps on the iPhone can help you navigate, keep you away from traffic, warn you when there’s a storm on the way and much more. Using these apps can get you out of a scrape and keep your car insurance rates from going through the roof. Here are a few of the most useful iPhone apps for your car.
iGasUp
These days, it is super expensive to fill up your tank. When it comes to saving money at the pump, every cent saved counts. The iGasUp app can help you to save the cents that over time will add up to big dollars. The application tracks your current location and hunts up the ten closest gas stations. Then, iGasUp uses the Oil Price Information Service (OPIS) to figure out the gas prices at the nearby gas stations. With this information, you can figure out which gas station will be the least expensive and the most convenient to visit.
AccuFuel
Although hunting down the least expensive gas stations can help you cut down on fuel costs over time, it isn’t the only technique that allows you to save money at the pump. Improving your overall fuel efficiency is a great way to extend the time between gas station stops. AccuFuel provides an easy and fun way to track the amount of fuel you are using. The iPhone app can determine the driving habits that are eating up your gas. You can select your car’s make and model from a list and figure out what the expected gas mileage is, in order to determine if your current mileage is up to par. Once you’ve filled up your tank two times, Accu Fuel will calculate your fuel efficiency and provide a handy graph so you can see how your fuel efficiency changes over time.
Take Me To My Car
One of the most annoying parts of driving a car is figuring out where you parked the darn thing. There’s a whole Seinfeld episode about that exact problem. Whether your car is hiding on an 8-story ramp, in the massive parking lot of Wal-mart or parallel-parked near the route of the big 4th of July parade, remembering its location is always easier said than done. The Take Me To My Car app solves this problem by letting you save your car’s position and giving you exact walking directions so that you can find it later.
Roadside America
Sometimes, the best part about taking a road trip is not arriving at the actual destination. You can have a lot of fun just stopping by the strange and exciting tourist attractions located off the beaten path. The problem is, it can be really difficult to figure out where all these places are. With the Roadside America app, you will never again have to miss a corn palace, massive ball of twine or spam museum. The iPhone application provides over 6,700 attractions found all over the United States. While you’re on the road, the app will track your location and suggest several interesting places to check out. If you’re looking for a specific type of attraction, you can browse a variety of categories, including music, tech, mysterious, presidents, sports, railroad and even pet cemeteries. And if you want to document the trip and share it with friends and family, the app allows you to take a picture with your phone and put it up on Facebook or Twitter.
TrafficAlert
If you’re late for work and hoping to avoid major backups, the TrafficAlert app can be a major life saver. This app tracks your location and informs you of the traffic conditions along your route. These traffic alerts are added by fellow drivers in your area, as well as being updated by the LTA Traffic News website. If you’re driving with a friend, you can ask a backseat driver to use the app while you drive and inform you of any traffic problems in the area. Otherwise, if you’re on your own, just set the application to give you voice notifications so that you can keep your hands on the wheel. Use this app when you are feeling sick or tired and not capable of handling stop and go traffic. By avoiding difficult traffic situations, you can keep yourself safe and trim down the time required for your commute.
The Significance of iPhone Car Apps
iPhone car apps have had a huge impact on the way people drive. Today, driving takes a lot less work than it did before the iPhone came along. Whether you are looking for a tourist attraction or trying to avoid traffic, iPhone car apps can make your life easier. These apps will allow you to save money and time while enriching your overall driving experience.

iGasUp, accufuel and roadside america can be very useful applications of iphone as they help in saving money and also help in finding good place for entertainment. Is there any similar application that can help us find the best and cheapest restaurant?
It’s true that those applications are very useful especially take me to my car and traffic alert however i feel that you should have included Parking Meter. From its name itself, it gives you an idea that it’s an application that tracks where you parked your car and how much time is left on the meter. It also sends SMS alert reminding you on how many minutes left in the meter so that you will drop a few more quarters in the slot.
